in a Google + Hangout.  Please send me your e mail for an invite.  Thank you.

ATTENTION CREDIT PARTICIPANTS:
We would like to have a presentation of Final Projects at the end of this coming week ... say, on either Friday or Saturday ... 20 or 21 December.  We will have the session in a Google + Hangout and record it ... so plan accordingly.  Please let me know your date and time preference. Thank you.

The session will be open to all, so just let me know your e mail address for the invite ... we will post the date and time by midweek ...

Thank you to all who have been active participants.  I know it is difficult when the numbers do not add up to a critical mass and I recognize the efforts that have been made to maintain a connective and active participant relationship ... it is within these efforts and exchanges that the best learning can occur and grow!
By carol yeager (Carol Yeager) on December 13, 2013. [Reply]
ATTENTION CREDIT PARTICIPANTS:
Please review the Learning Contract included in the addendum section of this learning journey.  You should assess your personal learning network as well as your participation from September through now.  If you are seeking more than 2 credits, a final project is in the requirements and we need to coordinate when you will present yours ... and how (in what platform, venue, etc).  This is an important aspect of your learning and we expect it to be presented no later than 17 December.  Please contact me regarding your plans ... thank you.

Additionally, please note that a final reflection blog should be posted and that should happen before the 15th of December.  Make sure you have a properly registered blog so it will appear in the NewPosts.

While the credit seeking participation is coming to a denouement, feel free to continue to play in the creativity MOOC sandbox as you wish.  There should be some new participants joining us mid January, as well as some of the long term folks who have been recharging elsewhere and involved in the holiday flurry of activity!

WE ARE COMING CLOSE TO THE END OF THE SEMESTER ...
and while your learning need not stop, nor your participation in CMC11 ... some of you are mostly here for the credit and grade.  I understand that.  So far, there has been minimal participation in the venues provided for connection: Facebook, blogs, Google + Hangout, Twitter session ... some of you have participated in some or all of them; some of you, in very few to none of them.  Time is moving quickly now ... any and all are welcomed to join the Saturday session.

We will have a Twitter session on Saturday, 16 November at 10 am.  In preparation for the session, I am posting the following You Tube on Understanding Personal/Professional Learning Networks.  The hashtag for the session on Saturday is #cmcchat.  I look forward to Tweeting with those who engage in the session.

This may be a new way to discussion, and it is an experiment for many and a way of common communication for others.

WHAT IS CREATIITY?
As we all try to find our flow and how to go through this new connectivist learning process, we thought an introduction to creativity might be helpful here.

WHAT IS CREATIVITY?

Dr Puccio is the head of the Creativity Studies Program at Buffalo State and he has some interesting thoughts about the creative process.  Perhaps you can apply some of them as you participate in the coming weeks in CMC11.

HAVING TROUBLE REGISTERING YOUR BLOG?
Some may still be having some difficulties registering your blog feed.  gRSS hopper harvests your registered blog posts and they are then published within this Newsletter. While it is also good to publish your blog posts in Facebook, the broader readership is within this Newsletter.  We know this may seem confusing at first, so in addition to the explanation within the blog registration page ... here is a quick description for Windows users.
Thanks to Stephanie Maxy here is a 1 minute video describing how to find your RSS feed so that you can register your blog. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gF0tohv99Ow&feature=youtu.be

Mac users would open their blog page, click on the RSS symbol, copy the url that comes up and paste that in the appropriate registration page block.

Please remember that you are registering your overall blog for the MOOC, and not every blog entry ... as long as it is composed within your registered blog, it will be harvested by gRSShopper. In addition, your blog entry will appear under the blog posts listing in the left hand block of each page.

HOW ARE YOU DOING?
Many of us are just starting our learning journey in a MOOC.  We are trying to figure out what is a PLN? what are we supposed to do? how do we follow what is happening?  And for these questions, the best reply is ... "just jump in and start playing around with what is here, in this MOOC".  Videos, readings, discussions, blog topics, Facebook posts, Tweets ... and more.  Do not try to do it all at one time ... just pick one area and sample it until you feel a little bit familiar with it ... then move to another ... and to another. We will soon start some Google + Hangouts, so make sure you get a Google e mail account and check out what a G+ Hangout is.  You will be doing a lot of research on your own and discover and then share what you find with all of us.  Enjoy the journey ...

Some of us have been hanging around for a while in CMC11 and are still trying to sort out creativity and what makes us creative.  We will be posting videos and assorted new materials in attempt to keep your thinking fresh and stimulated for even newer discoveries in thinking.  HERE is a video form Buffalo State's ICSC that can act as a trigger for each of use ... enjoy and let us know what you are thinking.

LOST IN A SEA OF CONFUSION?
If you are just starting with CMC11, a connectivist MOOC, you may feel lost, confused and maybe with a wee bit of stress ... not to worry ...this is normal at the start.  This is a different way of learning and all new things take some time with which to adapt. It will gradually sort itself out as you reach out to other participants ... some, who have been around for a while; and some, like you, who are new to the more organic learning journey presented within.

Just jump in, get your feet wet, and doggie paddle for a bit.  Ask questions on Facebook, in the Discussion arena, or even in your blog postings.  Which reminds me ... make sure to create a main blog for yourself and register it as per guidelines in registering a feed. The following link will offer you a glimpse at what the rss url link should look like ...
http://metaliteracy.cdlprojects.com/post/43&force=yes

Be patient with yourself and the learning journey and you will be amazed at how much learning will occur.  If you need more guideposts ... check out the Learning Contract under the "addendum" section.  Just remember ... these are guideposts and you will be the best judge of what and how you are learning.  Then tell us all about it in your blog!

PS Make sure you create a Twitter account as well as a Google + account ... we will be having some live  sessions in each of these.  We will post the announcements of them a few days before ... in the NewPosts newsletter.

Creativity and Multicultural Communication NewPosts is back online and

WELCOME TO THOSE JUST JOINING US ...

we look forward to reading, seeing, hearing new ideas, new thinking and new learning to build uponAs a reminder, this is not a linear course and does take some time to get used to "playing in the learning sandbox".  You are not expected to read or view everything that is contained around and outside of the weekly topics.  Feel free to explore: find new nodes and modes of connection with others; build new networks and exchange your perceptions with others.  Build your own learning network; a PLN (personal learning network). Let's learn from each other and build upon that learning ...

We will connect in multiple venues and we will add new ones from time to time.  For now, it would be good to become familiar and join: Twitter (we will hold Twitter sessions soon under hashtag #chatcmc), Facebook (is ongoing and loaded with great resources ... waiting for you to add to the mix; an open group under CMC11), Google + (a private group under cmc11), Diigo (open your own account and please ask to join CDL_CMC11), your personal blog (Blogger, WordPress are ones picked up by the RSS feed we use known as gRSShopper ... and make sure you follow the instructions as to how to register and maintain your posts for our perusal).  There will be other arenas as time goes by ... this should be enough to get you started!

And so, welcome back to those who have been around for a while and welcome anew to those who are just joining ... all participants are welcome, whether credit seeking now, in the future or never :)  Let the fun begin/continue ...

BLOG POSTING REMINDER ...
Please remember to tag your blog posts with #cmc11 so they can be harvested to appear in the Newsletter.  If they do not have the tag, they do not appear.  Thanks.

And speaking of blog posts: the main puropose of writing them is for you to reflect on some new ideas and incorporate your thinking about what you have read, seen, learned, understood or did not like.  Writing a summary of the item is not a reflective posting; it is a review of what was written, said or seen.  It is better to include a link to what you read, heard or saw and let others know what you think ... then, they can process their own reflections on all of the connections ... that is how connectivist learning and exchanges can work best.

We would like to set up a Google Hangout for next week ... please weigh in as to best time and date for you ... carolyeager@gmail.com  would love to hear from you for scheduling purposes. Thanks.
