Welcome to Creativity and Multicultural Communication, a MOOC

Description: CMC11:
Course tag: #CMC11
Good Day, or Evening …
Many of you are about to embark on a different sort of learning journey that promises to be exciting and frustrating; rewarding and sometimes, difficult; and always, interesting and rich.  Those of you who are MOOC aficionados, or just MOOC savvy may find this to be a slightly different learning journey with a variety of people speaking from different perspectives from different disciplines.
We have researched and included ancillary materials for each week so that you will have some background perceptions.  Some of the material has been selected so you can “push back”, and some, you will find comfortable in theory and application.  All are designed to stir up the thought processes and allow you some incubation time before jumping into the connectivist pool.
The Orientation week live session, will be recorded, as will subsequent weeks’, and available for review for those who may have missed the initial broadcast.  We will do a bit of housekeeping discussion for navigation purposes within the template, and will offer some brief introductions of topics and people involved in the project.
Please remember to submit your RSS feeds so we can harvest and publish your commentary in the daily NewPosts.  Feel free to wander around among the weeks and discover what is happening and know that materials will be added as we go along.  The MOOC is a work in progress; lifelong learning is a work in progress … play and have fun on the journey.  We are now officially open … join us and bring your friends and colleagues … registrations are welcome at any time!
Your facilitators.

PS It would be great if you would add your RSS feeds so we can include your observations in the daily NewPosts.   Thanks to those who already have added theirs.

Preview: I had alluded to another early connectivist endeavor in my previous blog posting ... this one involves you, the reader and participant in CMC11. Glen Gatin, of Week 8 of the MOOC fame, has a mind map posted for your participatory pleasure. It is interactive and he asks that you play around with it and add your thoughts to the branches he has started. You have the opportunity to shape the ....

Preview: Yes, the Creativity and Multicultural Communication MOOC starts in September 2011! Open to us all. More info here. Also started experimenting with video and created the clip  below with the above material. I also added Clara Schumann’s music which reminded me of the time when I was translating Peter Härtling’s book “Schumanns Schatten” into Greek.

Post Title: I love making things… #cmc11
By Chrissi Nerantzi, Feed Name: Chrissi Nerantzi
Preview: Warning! This is not a polished piece (did I have to say that? Anyway… let’s just start). I always loved making things. Well at least as long as I remember myself and from what others have told me and the photographs I have seen and some of the evidence that still exists today. I love

Preview: My heart felt thanks to Stephen Downes for his initial installation of his Open Source gRSShopper for use in harvesting, aggregating and feeding forward the many blogs, posts, tweets and comments we shall have in the MOOC, CMC11.  Additionally, he spent more than 90 minutes offering detailed instructions for implementing  and adjusting many of gRSShopper's myriad features.  He ....

Preview: Carol Yeager and I began our MOOC journey several months ago. We had both tried some earlier MOOCs. And, we are both very interested in the potential of open education.

I joined Empire State College many years ago because of a deep commitment to a learner-centered approach. That commitment has provided the foundation for how I engage with colleagues and students. And, it has brought me to this MOOC.

Carol has the expertise in Creativity from her Master's degree. Through my involvement in Process Education, I know that we can become better learners by ....

Post Title: MOOCdom
By cyeager, Feed Name: CMC11
Preview: CMC11, the MOOC, is ready for the public, although, it is still a work in progress. Lifelong learning is a work in progress ...  The journey of creating CMC11 has been difficult, exhilarating, frustrating, fun, enlightening, and a walk into the dark side of html coding.  It has been a time of stress and freedom ... and a great example of constructivist learning throughout the process.

This MOOC is an entry into the realm of open learning and an investigation of just what that means. Exchanging knowledge and understanding and building upon ....

Preview: Looking forward to the course, or at least as much of it as I can manage. For now, I'm unpacking (feeds to #CMC folder), getting oriented (checking out page again and new blogs) and generally settling in. I just joined the Google group but LinkedIn can wait. For some reason I couldn't subscribe to the newsletter so just burned a feed for my reader. The familiarity of the gRSShopper generated format is comforting.
