Post Title: Symptoms Of Spiritual Awakening
By wolfinthenight13, Feed Name: wolfinthenight13
Preview: Upon reading this webpage I was interested to see what the rest of the website was like. I don’t know if anyone else has explored through it yet, but it was highly interesting and relatable to me. I’m not sure if I’m one of these “Indigo” people, but the website definitely sparked an interest to [...]

Post Title: Frequency Illusion
By wolfinthenight13, Feed Name: wolfinthenight13
Preview: This bias is when a word, name, or object becomes the focus of your attention, and then it seems to appear everywhere. I think this most commonly see when someone buys a new car. You get a new car, you really love it, and then it seems like everyone has it. This was the case [...]

Post Title: Creative development ...
By cyeager, Feed Name: CMC11
Preview: within cmc11 could be an interesting, collaborative, connective process with some surprising outcomes. A few days ago I posted a challenge to all to write about what might a new form of higher education take. So far, no takers. This weekend, an article on the current MOOC endeavors of the elite schools appeared. HERE is a link to the article. A fellow MOOC developer who is with Duke was ....

Post Title: Functional Fixedness
By wolfinthenight13, Feed Name: wolfinthenight13
Preview: This bias is based on people using an object only in the traditionally thought of way. So far from the biases I have read though, this one really strikes home with me. I think outside the box, but when it comes to taking a simple, everyday item and finding new uses for it in order [...]

Post Title: Knowledgeable vs knowledge-able
By childrenandhistory, Feed Name: Teaching Children and History
Preview: I think this philosophy is important when looking to create lifelong learners.  We want to inspire and excite students so that they leave with more questions than answers.  If they indeed leave with more questions then they leave searching for answers and own a … Continue reading →

Post Title: Endowment Effect
By wolfinthenight13, Feed Name: wolfinthenight13
Preview: Lost track of time yesterday and didn’t make a post. So going to make this one now and might post again before I head to bed. The endowment effect is a bias based on possessions and what they are worth to us. Picture yourself at a yard sale where you are the one selling stuff. [...]

Title: Stay a ?
Preview: I just watched the video on the difference between being knowledgeable and knowledge-able. Before even watching it I considered myself knowledge-able even though I didn't even know the definition yet. I didn't consider myself knowledgeable right away because I don't really think about that word when I think of describing myself, even though I do know a lot of things about... .......

Title: Confused, Lost, and Discouraged!!!!!
Preview: This course has gotten the best of me. I feel completely confused, lost, and discouraged. I keep telling myself it will be fine, but it is not. I read the weekly readings and view the videos, but it ends there. I haven't a clue as what to communicate about or how. I feel like I am learning, but there is no place to show it. And when I do blog, it doesn't feel sufficient. I feel .......

Title: Re: Confused
Preview: Thank you for all the responses. They were helpful and encouraging. I am feeling better about the course. I think one thing I have been struggling with is the fear of posting wrong. I haven't had a clue what to post about, so I just haven't. I love using the internet for research and I just have to start doing it. Wolfinthenight - I hear you loud and clear. Sometimes I feel like I&....

Title: Re: Confused
Preview: There have been a number of suggested topics from " ??? what questions would you ask" to working on designing a new form of college learning.  It is difficult when one is used to being told what to do, to find a direction that speaks to your interest, or even a new interest.  There is a myriad of material in each weekly session that can act as a springboard for your investigation and ....

Title: Re: Confused
Preview: Sometimes I feel the same way. I felt like at the start of term that there was quite a bit of activity, but now that there isn't, I feel like there is no one to interact with. Because of that it is hard to make blog posts. Sometimes I go off and explore something and I don't really think about turning around and making a post about, I'm trying to get into a better habit of that ....

Title: Re: Confused
Preview: Sorry to read that you feel adrift in a course that is supposed to be what you make of it. I had a great time in this class last fall, which is why I have kept up with the comments on Facebook and the postings here. The beauty of a MOOC is that it is self-directed. You pick up a piece of information that fascinates you and you'll find it's only the beginning of a spool that will ....
