Post Title: Change and Survival of the Fastest
By cyeager, Feed Name: CMC11
Preview: Facebook, Twitter, cloud computing, LinkedIn, 4G wireless, ultra-high-speed bandwidth, big data, Skype, system-on-a-chip (SOC) circuits, iPhones, iPods, iPads and cellphone apps ... nine years ago these were not on the scope of most of our personal horizons. We looked to the future with hope for a better life, a better world after a terrorist attack on the US. The perpetrators were relative ....

Post Title: MOOC revolution
By Jon Bunch, Feed Name: Jon Bunch
Preview: I found an interesting article about how MOOCs (massive open online course) can help a wide variety of students on an International level. Countries such as Egypt have students that are not able to take college-level courses if it wasn't for professors willing to give of themselves to provide an education to those that truly need it in order to obtain a better life for themselves or their ....

Post Title: The Scam of Online Learning Platforms
By VanessaVaile, Feed Name: MOOC Madness
Preview: Reblogged from M.G. Piety: There's an interview in this morning's Inside Higher Education with Katie Blot, the president of Blackboard Education Services. Universities pay millions of dollars to Blackboard and similar companies for online learning services that are, in fact, available for free on the internet. Everything Blackboard Learn does can be done through a [...]

Transliteracy is a form of the dusty, archaic word transliteration (unless you study Linguistics, in which case you’re as insulted by that statement as I am with myself … Continue reading »

Title: Metaliteracy, Transliteracy, Transliteration, Transcription, Translation... What the Hell Are We Talkin' About?
Preview: Thanks ~ I remember going through all this on the first round of cmc11... getting it sort or sorted out but then forgetting all over again, which probably says as much about me as it does for inherently unsticky nature of the terms. I show up regularly for Vance Steven's Multiliteracies and still have to remind and re-clarify annually. On the other hand, I can remember Information Literacy .......

Title: Re: MOOC tips
Preview: "good but chaotic" seems an apt summary to me. I missed other #etmchat session but have done other twitter chats before and have to admit to mixed feelings about them. The remind me of old fashioned open text chat sessions. I used to facilitate open sessions for EFI StudyCom...anybody with a question about or wanting to practice English could just drop in. I used Twitter Chat but usually open ....
