Post Title: On Transliteracy
By Mike, Feed Name: ESC Creativity and Multicultural Communication
Preview: "Transliteracy is concerned with what it means to be literate in the 21st century. It analyzes the relationship between people and technology, most specifically social networking, but is fluid enough to not be tied to any particular technology. It focuses more on the social uses of technology, whatever that technology may be. This terminology is new and the study of transliteracy is in the early ....

Post Title: On Creativity
By Mike, Feed Name: ESC Creativity and Multicultural Communication
Preview: The "Meat and Potatoes" of the course, I was looking forward to this chapter from the beginning. It's interesting to observe our perceptions of creativity- such as the example mentioned on this week's page, that only artists are creative. I feel that this is a common belief, because through art, one is able to create direct, obvious representations of their creativity. Also, works of ....

Post Title: GeoLiteracy. Is It An Idea Whose Time Has Come?
By daleydose, Feed Name: dayleydosier
Preview: #CMC11 I recently came across an article in National Geographic which speaks to the idea of Geo-Literacy. The premise of Geo Literacy is simple; We are living in a global world, we are inter-connected and we need to learn about each other. Whether it for the purpose of relocating, travel, doing business, gaining more insight into other cultures of just understanding the world more, it is ....

Post Title: Creativity, innovation, and risk
By Jon Bunch, Feed Name: Jon Bunch
Preview: #CMC11Examining at the creativity and innovation aspects from a business perspective was interesting to me as experience has taught me that companies can create new products or offer new services that sets them apart from their competitors. Without these key factors a business is likely to fall by the wayside while other companies that manage their risk investment while cultivating ingenuity ....

Title: Re: Creativity
Preview: Guided brainstorming sounds like an interesting experience Carol. I find that at the end of a day editing online courses on the computer I'll sit there stunned watching myself unable to make another move. As if my brain had enough of being deliberate and freezes. But the watching part seems to almost detach itself and carry on with some pointless task like the running but not moving dreams. ....

Title: Re: Creativity
Preview: The disassociation for greater idea generation in the divergent process is a key to good brainstorming sessions.  Another technique is to work the mind so hard that in the last few minutes, reserves are broken down and free association ideas spring forth.  It is often amazing how these mental stimuli and neural techniques help us to be non judgmental in coming up with some solutions to ....
